A NEW SALON

Since I / we haven´t been lucky looking for a new workshop/showroom, I decided to rearrange my workshop and showroom and move it into our living room, to have it more presentable.

The Salon Collection is displayed here. I´m open for business and have some very good offers, if you or you and your friends would like to take a closer look and try some of the dresses. Just get in touch and make an appointment.

COMMON INSPIRATION !

When it comes to inspiration, it´s always funny to see how designers pick up vibes from different places and make something that look alike. I guess it must be a common source we all draw from. . .

For example, I made this cocktail dress a few years ago. . .

-And now, look how Dressmaker, Jesper Høvring interpretated that same vibe in his latest collection at Copenhagen Fashion Week.

CLASSIC DRESS

I was just wondering what you think of this dress. It´s one of the first dresses I made. The layered skirt is made of silk-organdy and the corset is made of a silk-brocade.

I always try to keep the design pretty simple and use interesting fabrics and colors, instead of some elaborate design, that fades in time.
Does it still hold up or do you think it looks dated ? Do I keep it or not?

ONE SOURCE OF INSPIRATION.

Do you remember the trendy English magazines, The Face and Blitz from the Eighties?
For me, they were a good source, where I found lots of impulses and inspiration, even before I had my formal education. These magazines did definately made an impact on me in many ways.

I kept a few frontpages as a souvenir, that I might use for collages sometime. . .

I think you have to be open towards other cultures and things, to be able to transform impressions into new ideas and design. Do you have any thoughts on that ?

FOR THE RIGHT REASON

When you look at my last post about The Golden Globes, it is a fascinating world. . . sort of a dream-world really. -And a very seductive one.
It is very easy to get captured like that and by all the things that is going on in the fashion world; you want to be part of it and start to aspire for more. It´s only natural I think, because everybody wants to succeed.

It all made me think of, what it takes to get there. . . and is it something worth striving for at all. I mean, we can´t be famous actors or designers all of us.

According to all the Media and "Reality"-shows these days, it seems like, especially young people think they have to live through the Media to be someone or something. It´s a bit scary.

I have to say - of course it is possible to be happy and content, without being famous. We just need to dream to keep our hopes up, but at the same time be realistic and think about our potential and strenght.
That might show us the right way. As long as you don´t forget what got you started and hold on to that. Sooner or later you will succeed.

Actually I just need to look at my self. . .
-Initially it began, when I was looking for clothes back then. Since I wasn't  able to find anything that I liked, I began to create my own. I made quite a few experiments, finding satisfaction in this process, and finally decided to study and make a career out of it.

Why and what made you go into fashion ? Share your experience and have a great day out there.

I wrote about what I think it takes in a previous post.Take a closer look at the Labels, if you like posts like this.
