THE BRIDAL CORSET

As promised last week, here are a few pictures from the happy bride, in the laced, creme-coloured bridal-corset with black lace on top and sleeves.

She had a wonderfull day and everybody liked her dress. It´s always nice to get feedback like that. Don´t you think she looks radiant in her very personal weddingdress?

THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE 2012

I am talking of Vogue of course, if you haven´t guessed.

The September Issue, made famous by the Documentary, directed and produced by R.,J. Cutler from 2009, told the story of legendary Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour and her team of editors creating the biggest issue ever in 2007, ruling the world of fashion.

This year Vogue celebrates it´s 120 anniversary, even bigger and with Lady Gaga on the cover.

She looks a little bit deformed to me though, probably worked too much over in Photoshop.

Anna Wintour said then: - "Fashion is not about looking back, but it´s about looking forward". But actually this years cover reminded me of some fashion-sketches I did 12 years ago.

UPDATE!

Last week I finished the latest commission - a laced bridal corset in creme-colour with a black lace on top  and sleeves. It took a few fittings to get it right, but the bride was very happy with the result. Hopefully I can show some pictures when I get some. . .

Apart from that, we have had a few days with fabulous weather here in Denmark; around 30 degrees. So the weekend was mainly spent in our garden, relaxing and fixing a few things.

Next is to finish up the new wedding dresses that I´ve been working on lately. . .

INSPIRATIONS FROM A MASTER

A previous post made me think about Inspiration, because the first dress shown there reminded me of another great couturier, Azzedine Alaia.

Cristobal Balenciaga, from The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Azzedine Alaia 2011

Cristobal Balenciaga 1895-1972

Since I´m not the only one who thinks that Christobal Balenciaga always will be a great resource of inspiration, I am going to start a miniseries of Inspirations from a Master - to show what a genius he was.

He influenced so many designers that worked for him, among them Givenchy, Oscar de La Renta, Andre Courreges, Emanuel Ungaro and still continues to do so. . .

If you look at Stella McCartney on The Best dressed List 2012, pictures 74-76, you clearly see the inspiration from Balenciagas famous Sack Dress 1957 and in her use of fabric and textures.

I probably said it before, but what I especially like is: his research and innovation, the simplicity, his very effectful way of combining materials and shape, colors and design, inspired by his own background in Spain.

These dresses are clearly spanish inspired, but at the same time classic in the sense that these examples still looks contemporary when you compare to the designers of today. No wonder why he was and still is a great inspiration.

FASHION NEWS OF THE WEEK

There is always so much going on in the world of fashion, that I from now on have decided to mention it in "headlines" until I get to write more about it later on. . .

Sadly the great Italian fashion Icon, editor and collector, Anna Piaggi, that I posted about here, passed away yesterday, 81 years old. May she rest in peace.

Announcement: 5 year old Dansk Fashion Award transforms into Elle Style Award from 2013. Read more here.

Take a look at Spring/Summer 2013 at Copenhagen Fashion Week, that started today! As always you can follow it on DR K, starting tonight.

H.R.H. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is on The International Best-Dressed List in Vanity Fair´s September Style Issue. Take a look here or pick up the Magazine later this month.
