GRACE KELLY

Currently The Victoria and Albert Museum in London has a comprehensive exhibition on Grace Kelly. Grace Kelly was one of the most popular actresses in the 1950.

The exhibition is displaying 40 dresses and shows both her wardrobe and the magnificent dresses from her Hollywood era, from the movies: High Noon, To Catch A Thief, Mogambo, Rear Window and High Society, and the dress she wore when she recieved an Oscar in 1955.

She surprised the whole world, when she in 1955 got engaged with Prince Rainier of Monaco. The Fairytale-wedding took place the 18 of April the following year.

The wedding dress was created by MGM´s Oscar-rewarded designer, Helen Rose and was made of  23 meters silk taffeta and 300 meters Valencienne-lace. It took 35 seamstresses 6 weeks to do and was a gift from the Studio.

In addition to her movie-costumes you can see what she wore, when she first meet Prince Rainier in 1955, her couture-dresses from the 1960´ and 1970´ by her favorite designers: Dior, Balenciaga, Givenchy and Yves Saint Laurent.

"She was one one the few woman, who deserves to be called style icon. It´s hard to think of someone today, that will be remembered in the same way in 50 years", establishes the curator of the exhibition, Jenny Lister to the Press agency AFP. The exhibition runs until the 26 of september.

Grace Kelly tragically lost her life in a car accident in 1982, together with her daugther Stephanie, who survived. She was only 52 years old.

COUTURE - OFF THE RACK

Time has come for a vigorous review of the Couture dresses, that has been hanging on the Rack for too long.
It's clothes I've made through time, which in one way are simple classic models, but never the less all too different, when I want a greater context in the selection - a more cohesive collection.

That is why these designs are on offer for only half the price, to give room for something new and contemporary. Take a look at the Dress Archive and Wedding Dresses in the Menu.

Should you be interested, just make an appointment, without any obligation and have look for yourself.

INSPIRATION

The Inspiration for my "creations"  arises from impressions I get, either deliberately or unconsciously.
It can be a particular type, a personality, a cut, some lines of design, architecture, landscapes, moods, experiences, fabrics, movies, words or color combinations that inspire me.

Ideas can occur anywhere and at any time. They are retrieved and processed, developed and varied to different designs.

In connection with orders, my starting point are the customer's specific needs, wishes and style. Based on this, I am designing some suggestions, which of course will feature my design philosophy. The design of the model is decided by the customer and the work can begin. Read more about the process in Services in the Menu.

IRINA SHABAYEVA

Photo: Perry Hagopian

Better late than never, here comes a small post about the winner of the 6th Season of Project Runway, which were broadcasted earlier this year.

It became known, Irina Shabayeva won over Althea Harper and Carol Hannah Whitfield, with a very cohesive collection inspired by "Modern Women warriors of New York City"

In that regard, she was right on point. Because that's just one of the trends that is growing now. The Collection showed very figure hugging silhouettes in mainly black and grey. But there were also voluminous knitwear and t-shirts, as well as accessories that made it all come together.

Throughout the whole season, she was the most ambitious and serious of all the participants. She won three challenges and was never among the last.
Among other things, she said  -“So many woman are afraid of the bitch word, but you`ve got to go for what you want. It´s not going to be handed to you.” If you want to know more, check out her website here.

Subsequently, she has among other things made this wonderful wedding dress for Kelly Ripa, from the American tv-show "Live with Regis and Kelly".

SEX AND THE CITY 2

The Hype of the new Sex and The City is on. It's just about the new Sex and The City 2 has premiere. If your are fast, you might be one of the lucky ones who has secured tickets for the Premiere the 3 of June.

The series that was very popular from 1998-2004, followed the lives of four girlfriends, Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda, in good and bad, in a way where nothing was taboo. . . and words were put on every thought that ordinary people could identify with.

-And why is that so interesting now? You see, in the series there was always a great emphasis on the costumes of the actresses. the well-known designer/stylist, Patricia Field always found some really special clothes and understood to mix it in a way that was stylish.
Particularly  the main character, Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, bacame a fashion icon over time.

The series ended after 6 years and 94 episodes, but was later filmed in 2008. It was so successful that, of course, a continuation was obvious. You can watch the trailer here.
