GRACE KELLY

Currently The Victoria and Albert Museum in London has a comprehensive exhibition on Grace Kelly. Grace Kelly was one of the most popular actresses in the 1950.

The exhibition is displaying 40 dresses and shows both her wardrobe and the magnificent dresses from her Hollywood era, from the movies: High Noon, To Catch A Thief, Mogambo, Rear Window and High Society, and the dress she wore when she recieved an Oscar in 1955.

She surprised the whole world, when she in 1955 got engaged with Prince Rainier of Monaco. The Fairytale-wedding took place the 18 of April the following year.

The wedding dress was created by MGM´s Oscar-rewarded designer, Helen Rose and was made of  23 meters silk taffeta and 300 meters Valencienne-lace. It took 35 seamstresses 6 weeks to do and was a gift from the Studio.

In addition to her movie-costumes you can see what she wore, when she first meet Prince Rainier in 1955, her couture-dresses from the 1960´ and 1970´ by her favorite designers: Dior, Balenciaga, Givenchy and Yves Saint Laurent.

"She was one one the few woman, who deserves to be called style icon. It´s hard to think of someone today, that will be remembered in the same way in 50 years", establishes the curator of the exhibition, Jenny Lister to the Press agency AFP. The exhibition runs until the 26 of september.

Grace Kelly tragically lost her life in a car accident in 1982, together with her daugther Stephanie, who survived. She was only 52 years old.
