Today's shock! The fashion industry has today lost one of its great designers; British Lee Alexander McQueen, fashions "enfant terrible" was found dead in his home in London on Thursday morning.
One week after his mother's death and three years after his friend and mentor, Isabella Blow's suicide. According to police reports, everything indicates that he also committed suicide.
As 16 years old, McQueen became an apprentice and was eventually educated tailor from Anderson & Sheppard in Savile Row.
He worked for some years, among other things at Central Saint Martins Fashion School, where he later graduated in the late 90's.
He subsequently formed his own brand. From 1996-2001 he was designer at Givenchy.
McQueen was honored as the International Designer of the Year and the British Designer of the Year four times.
He had among others Prince Charles, Mikhael Gorbachev, Lady Gaga, Sarah Jessica Parker, Beyonce and Naomi Campbell as customers.
He will be remembered as incredibly talented and inspiring, an unconventional and boundary-seeking designer. He was only 40 years old. RIP.
