GENERATING IDEAS

Have you ever wondered how and where creative people get their ideas from?

For me it works like this. . . the starting point of an idea is often inspirations from impressions or a dream, a wish or simply a need to change or make something better.

-And when I first get started, the ideas come floating, one after the other. It´s a process that gets started. I have posted about related issues, like creating and inspirations before. Check it out in my Labels.

A model posing, a style, cut, colours and textures are some of the things that inspires me. Here Balenciaga Now and Then.

In general, creative people are probably more sensitive or aware of what is going on. . . and try to make sense out of it by being creative.

We are maybe more open to impression/inspirations of all kind and have this urge to express ourselves by interpretations and put our version out there. Do you agree ?

MY FASHION AGENDA

I´m back from a nice break in the sun with new energy. . . if you have been wondering about my whereabouts.

Before the vacation, I had to finish the Gala dress for my niece and different other things. But now I´m back.
Today, I am working on a new project, that is a a little secret for now. It will be revealed in time, so stay tuned.
Tomorrow I am bringing home the dresses from the display at Profil Optik. So, it´s your last chance to take a look before it´s to late. Otherwise you will have to make an appointment.

Last, but not least, I am offering you a scarf in a little GIVE AWAY, since it is three years ago I posted for the first time.

ZAC POSEN Vs CHARLES JAMES

-Zac Posen is a very talented, successful American designer. . .but when I saw his latest creations on, they reminded me of another famous American couturier, the late Charles James.

Of course it is his interpretation. But I think it is pretty obvious where some of his inspiration is coming from.
The silhouettes, the cuts, the choice of colors and fabric are quite similar. Take a look at my previous post, compare and tell me if you like it or not. Share your thoughts. . .

FASHION DISPLAY IS CHANGING

During this period of display at Profil Optik, I have changed the dresses a few times.

THE INDIAN TREND

"Now it’s all about India"

- Karl Lagerfelt proclaimed, when he launched his Metier d’Art collection for Chanel last year.

You can say the same about ARKEN - The Museum of Modern Art south of Copenhagen. Because this fall the museum has it´s first fashion exhibition ever, INDIA : ART NOW. It runs until 13 january 2013.

The exhibition displayes creations by seven of the most prominent young Indian designers: Manish Arora, Morphe by Amit Aggarwal, Little Shilpa, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Prashant Verma, Varun Sardana and 11.11 by Cell DSGN.

Especially Manish Aurora is quite known. He is regarded by many as "the John Galliano of India", says Hilary Alexander, The Daily Telegraph 2007.

He is known for a rich palette of psychedelic colours and kitsch motifs in garments that combine traditional Indian crafts like embroidery, appliqué and beading with Western silhouettes. He makes clothes for the adventures woman with a very strong individuality.

The Indian trend is all over at the moment.
Even the latest collections from American designers Marchesa and Vera Wang are clearly inspired by India.

-ON CREATING

"You can only design what you know" - is a quote by Haider Ackermann from my new book, Fashion Now. It made me think about it. . . and I actually agree.

To create and design, you have to have knowledge and some kind of reference, foundation, in order to make sense of all the inspiration, impulses and impressions you get exposed to, through events, travel, life and so on.. You have to be open and aware of what is going on.

In other words, you have to be conscious, to be able to reflect and interpretate your experiences and transform them into design. -To be creative and express yourself.

Of course education helps, but as long as you have a vision and are curious and have some willpower and determination, I believe it is possible to design. Share your thoughts on this subject!
