VERY VALENTINO
A late review, but never the less a fascinating glimpse into the glamorous world of the famous Italien couturier, Valentino Garavani, who is devoted to beauty of all kinds. He is known to do very feminine and romantic dresses.
The film follows Valentino and his inner circle throughout various events and mainly takes place around the preparation for the celebration of his 45 years anniversary.
It also shows his lifelong personal and professional relationship with his partner, Giancarlo Giammetti.
But the best part for me was to be able to see the couturiers working-process from design to the final fashion-shows. It is a very fascinating process, where everything is handmade.
The documentary seemed genuine, because we also got to see the challenges that he and the people around him had to deal with. It is hereby recommended.

BACK TO THE CORE OF HAUTE COUTURE
-with Azzedine Alaïa, who just showed his first much anticipated Haute Couture show in eight years.
Alaia is a couturier/designer who doesn´t need to reinvent the big wheel every season, but edit and refine his clothes to perfection.
He sets his own agenda. He takes his time and doesn´t show before he is ready and have something to show. As a Couturier, Alaïa is in the same leaque as Madame Gres and Balenciaga.
I have to say, that I really like this approach to his metier. That´s how the world of Haute Couture should be. I wouldn´t mind working for him.

FLOWER FESTIVAL FASHION
I just realized that I forgot to post about this fun fashion event from 2001. Through friends and connections, I was asked if I wanted to participate in this yearly event in Odense, Denmark.
The whole city was decorated with a variety of flower arrangements through a short period of time.
I was happy to oblige, since exposure is everything, when you are a small one-man business.
Luckily I already had some of the dresses ready. Nevertheless, it took a few months to prepare, design and execute the dresses I wanted to show. All of them made to measure for three models that was modelling them. All the dresses had some kind of floral motif in the design.
Here is some of the dresses that was shown.

DREAM WEDDINGS
Kate Moss looked very pretty wearing a wedding gown of her long time friend, John Galliano. Respect!
The sheer elegant beaded gown looked very contemporary, even though inspired by the 1920-30 flapper-style and suited her perfectly.
The second wedding was The Royal wedding of long time bachelor Prince Albert of Monaco, who finally was getting married to his fiancée of five years, South-African swimmer, Charlene Wittstock.
Even though the rumors about a third illegitimate child on his side almost made the bride cancel the wedding last week. Apparently other rumors was saying, she tried to escape and made it to the airport, but was stopped and held back. Of course officials denies everything. But just think about all the money that are involved, the prestige, the sponsors etc. Even if it´s not true, it´s a good story.
For the civil wedding friday Charlene Wittstock wore a light blue Chanel dress with a jacket, by Karl Lagerfeld, who is a long time friend of the Grimaldi-family.
In my opinion not to compare with the stylish wedding ensemble Grace Kelly wore at her and Prince Ranier´s civil wedding in 1956 though.
A suit designed by Helen Rose, who also did her famous wedding-gown. See my previous post on Grace Kelly here.
But Charlene Wittstock really looked stunning in the Wedding-gown from Armani Privée, at the Ceremony yesterday.
It was a very contemporary, simple, but heavily beaded column gown with draped shoulders and a long, trailing fishtail skirt and an extensive train attached.
The designers strategic nursing of their future clients payed off once again. I´m sure the gowns were gifts, because the publicity Chanel and Armani gets, makes it all worth while. For more facts on the wedding, check here.
