DREAM AWAY

To continue where I left in the my previous post. . . How do you imagine your wedding dress? Which type of bride are you?

Are you the Classical type, who emphasizes style more than fashion? You would probably identify with style Icons as Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy.

Are you the Modern type, who looks ahead and like to stand out? The type who usually is unconventional and has a certain idea of how she would appear.

Or are you the Individualist, who has a great need to express yourself above all. Are you the kind of woman that has her own style and is ready to go to great lenght to realize the dream of the ultimate fashion statement, given the chance?

Maybe you are the Romantic, who sees life as a fairytale and grabs the opportunity to realize your deepest dreams? You are fascinated by creating an otherworldly vision, filled with magic and beauty. Which usually will manifest in dresses with a big train, big tulle skirts and corsets.

Or maybe you are the Minimalist, the confident bride, who prefers simple and clean lines without any redundant decoration. It is all about less is more. The bride that manages to maintain this elegant clean expression, will often make a strong fashion statement.

For me it is always very exciting to find out personality and create the ultimate dress, for everybody's satisfaction.

WEDDING DRESSES

The wedding season is getting closer. In Denmark most couples are getting married in the period from May to September.

Due to planning it is of course required to be right on time, especially when it comes to ordering the wedding dress. Take a look at this little selection of simple, but different wedding dresses in special fabrics, for inspiration.

The first wedding dress has an empire cut and a moderate train. It is made of shantung silk underlined with silk organdy and brocade with a matching velvet ribbon, to emphasize the cut. This unique wedding dress is only available in tall size 6 (Str. 36)

This corset dress is made of "golden brocade" and can easily be used as simple, but stylish wedding dress with a nice veil and the right accessories. This dress is only available in size 6 (Str.36)

Pale rose wedding dress with a train, made of bridal satin and decorated  with transparent sequins and beads. This dress is only available in size 12 (Str. 42)

Wedding dress with pale mink, a bare back with ribbons and a train, made of off-white bridal satin. Only available in size 6 (Str. 36)

PROJECT RUNWAY Vs THE FASHION SHOW

The most popular reality Design competition is running. Of course it is the 6th season of Project Runway, that Bravo initially launched.  The Competition already took place last year, but is first shown here now at TV3.
This season of  Project Runway, season7 was already launched the 14 of januar 2010. But it will probably first show next year.

Lifetime took over Project Runway two years ago, after a trial against NBC/Universal, the owners of Bravo. the Producers simply got a better offer.

After that, Bravo launched The Fashion Show, as a pendant to Project Runway, with American designer, Isaac Mizrahi and Kelly Rowland from Destiny´s child as hosts, as well as Fern Mallis, the woman behind New York Fashion Week, as a fellow judge.

Project Runway has until now been going on in New York, but was for once moved to Los Angeles. The number of participants was from the start 16 talented- and hopeful designers, but are now down to  6 and the competition is getting harder. Every time the Designers get a new assignment, that they have to solve within very limited time and a fair amount of money to use.

From time to time they get evaluated by a permanent panel of judges, containing of, Heidi Klum, top-american designer, Michael Kors and Editor in chief of Marie Claire, Nina Garcia, as well as a new guest-judge every time.
The three remaining participants have to design a collection to be shown at New York Fashion Week.
Here the final winner will be elected. The winner will be mentioned over several pages in Marie Claire and win 100.000,- $ for financing their own collection.

I follow the series as often as possible, because it is fun, but also very inspiring on a professional level. The Concept is well planned and seems serious. the Participants get some nice challenges and is being supervised by Tim Gunn, who for many years was at Parsons, The New School for Design, but now is a Creative director at Liz Clairborne Inc.

On the other hand, The Fashion Show seems very superficial and not very well worked through. They promote it as "real fashion for real people".
Mizrahi and Kelly Rowland, who doesn´t seem to have any knowledge of fashion at all, are walking around among the designers and commenting, while they work. -But not as serious and constructive as Tim Gunn on Project Runway.
In return they have invited an audience of industy-people to watch the show and are using their com-ments in the judgement together with a guest-judge.

Season two of The Fashion Show have been filmed this year, but will most probably first show here next year. Until now, I´m not impressed though. Project Runway is and will probably be my favourite.

THE ACADEMY AWARDS

On March 7th, the time had finally come. This year's Oscar was to be distributed for the 82nd time. The Event took place at Kodak Theater in Hollywood, where the best movie, the best actors, producers among others was awarded.

This is the Event for the World's designers and fashion houses, where they get massive exposure if their creations are shown on the red carpet.
It's all about dressing the right stars in the perfect dress. Not everyone got away with it. But judge for yourself.

Usually you can see who the best and the worst dressed are on Msn's Wonderwall, if you search for it. I certainly do not agree with all their assessments. But at the end, it's all about personal taste.

If you want to know more about the History of The Oscars, check out their official website The Academy of motion picture arts and sciences.
One of my favorites was Sandra Bullock, who won her first Oscar for "The blind side" in a stunning Marchesa dress of silver lamé and lace, with a train.
